How Werkhaus handles your data

Draft 0.1Last updated Oct 18, 2026Pending legal review
Draft, pending legal review. This is a plain-language holding page. The final text comes from our attorney before Werkhaus takes real payments or opens to schools. If anything here does not match what Werkhaus does, we fix it; tell us at hello@werkhaus.app.

The short version: Werkhaus collects what it needs to watch your renders, asks before anything optional, never looks inside your files, and only learns from your renders if you say yes.

01Who we are

Werkhaus watches your Blender renders and helps you run them. It is made by Hoek Creative & Co., a small studio in the United States. When this page says “we”, it means us.

02What Werkhaus needs to work

These are needed for Werkhaus to do its job, so there is no switch for them. Each one is shown to you before anything is collected, on the setup screen.

Your accountName, email, and your password stored only as a one-way hash (we can’t read it). We also keep your age group (13 to 17, or 18 or older), never your birth month or year.
Your computersGPU, CPU and memory models, checked again when they change. Whether the app is open and Blender is running.
Your rendersFile and scene names (encrypted where they are stored), render progress, frame times and render settings, so Monitor, Renders and Insights work.
BillingYour plan and payment status. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see your full card number.

03What you choose

You can change each of these at any time in Settings › Data and privacy.

PreviewsRendered images shown on your Monitor. Per computer, on unless you switch it off. Off: progress still shows and the images stay on your computer.
DiagnosticsWhen a render or Blender crashes: the error, Blender and add-on versions, and the last progress we saw. Never your file. Per computer.
The GrainOff unless you switch it on. See The Grain below.
CommunityWhether you have a public profile and appear in the community feed and on the leaderboard. Off unless you switch it on.

04What we never collect

05The Grain

The Grain is the learning engine behind Tune, which suggests faster render settings. It learns from your renders only if you switch it on. It is off until you do, and nothing you render teaches it while it is off.

When it is on, it learns from:

It never sees:

Switching it off stops new learning at once. What the Grain already learned stays in it, because it keeps patterns blended from many people’s renders, so one person’s part can’t be picked back out. Tune keeps working for you either way.

Class accounts are never asked, and class work never trains the Grain. Accounts under 18 are never asked either, and nothing they render teaches it.

06Who else handles your data

We use a few companies to run Werkhaus. They handle your data only to provide their service to us.

HostingerOur servers, in Boston, United States.
CloudflareStored preview images and our daily database backups.
StripePayments and invoices.
Email deliverySign-in codes and notices you ask for. provider to confirm
Slack, DiscordOnly if you connect them, and only the alerts you choose.
Microsoft PhotoDNAChild-safety screening of images you share in Community, by fingerprint only. We send a short fingerprint of each shared image, never the image itself, and nothing can be rebuilt from it.

07How long we keep it

Render historyFree 7 days, Basic 90 days, Pro and Studio all of it while you have the plan.
Preview imagesFree 7 days, Basic 90 days, Pro 365 days, Studio 730 days.
TransfersDeleted 48 hours after they finish.
BackupsTaken daily, kept for 30 days, then deleted.
Your accountUntil you delete it. Until the delete button is in Settings, email us and we delete your account and its data within 30 days.

08Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, download or delete the data we hold about you. Email hello@werkhaus.app from the address on your account and we answer within 30 days. to confirm

Attorney text goes hereRights that depend on where you live (for example California or the EU and UK), and how data moves between countries.

09Students and schools

Werkhaus is for people 13 and older. Accounts under 18 start with a public profile, the leaderboard and community posting off, never get product email, never train the Grain, and a parent or guardian buys any plan.

Class teams are run by a teacher or school. Class computers sign students out after 10 minutes without use, students never use a seat of their own on them, and class work never trains the Grain.

If you think an account belongs to someone under 13, tell us here or at safety@werkhaus.app.

10Changes to this page

If we change what we collect or why, we update this page and email you before the change takes effect. Small wording fixes just change the date at the top.
